CrossFit Union Square Head Coach
An athlete all his life, Jay led the Rye High School football team to its first ever State Championship in 2005, earning MVP honors for his performance. An all-state and all-league hockey player in high school, he continued his athletic career playing four years of college football at Johns Hopkins University. After his playing days ended, Jay began CrossFit in the fall of 2012, looking for an activity to fulfill his competitive nature. CrossFit became an excellent outlet to maintain and improve upon his strength and technique, as well as learn new skills. What started as going to CrossFit once or twice a week, quickly transformed into an every day obsession. He has helped a team qualify and compete at regionals in the two years he has been crossfitting, including a fifth place finish at the 2013 North East Regional with Reebok CrossFit Fifth Ave.
Jay is incredibly passionate about health and wellness and thinks it is important to help those who have the desire to improve themselves as well. As an avid cook, Jay carries the fitness lifestyle to the kitchen as well, creating delicious paleo meals. “Nutrition is the foundation for fitness, and I believe it is extremely important to eat clean, quality foods. The easiest way to do this, is to cook for yourself so you know what you are putting in your body. Not only is it healthier and cheaper, but there is also nothing more satisfying than eating something you worked hard to prepare.” There’s no question being part of the training staff at Reebok CrossFit Fifth Ave will be the perfect place for Jay to pass his fitness and coaching knowledge on to one of the largest, and most eager group of members around.
