In 2011, Coach Javier was introduced to CrossFit by a close friend with a baseline workout: 400 meter run, 40 air squats, 30 sit ups, 20 push-ups and 10 pull-ups, which him 14 minutes to complete. Feeling both defeated and inspired, he set a goal to finish that same workout in less than 10 minutes. In just a few short weeks he landed a 9:54 finish time! That humble beginning spawned the CrossFit coach he is today, with a passion for goals, people and wellness.
Coach Javier is now an accomplished CrossFit coach, judge, and athlete. His resume includes 7 CrossFit certification and countless competitions, participating as both athlete and judge. His love of the sport has taken him to the games 3 times as a judge, and now as a full time coach, forging elite fitness at CrossFit Union Square.
